This program places you in a community school in the Kathmandu Valley, working alongside local teachers to support English language learning for students aged 6 to 14. Many of these schools are under-resourced and rely on volunteers to run conversation classes, reading groups and creative activities that build students' confidence in speaking English.

You will live with a carefully vetted host family in a nearby village, sharing meals and daily life while getting an authentic look at Nepali culture. Weekends are free to explore Kathmandu's UNESCO World Heritage sites, including Swayambhunath, Boudhanath Stupa, and Patan Durbar Square, or to join an optional weekend trip to Nagarkot for sunrise Himalayan views.

No teaching qualification is required , just patience, enthusiasm, and a willingness to adapt lesson plans to the classroom's needs. Our in-country coordinator provides a full orientation, teaching resources, and ongoing support throughout your placement.

A typical two-week placement runs Monday to Friday in the classroom, with orientation on arrival and free weekends for cultural exploration.
